Adeline Marie Sandor

November 12, 1941 — September 20, 2019

Adeline Marie Sandor, 77, longtime Superior resident, died Friday, September 20, 2019 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN following a lengthy illness.  She was born on November 12, 1941 in Bismarck, ND to John and Marie Kolberg.  She was one of eight children and lived in Bismarck for the first twenty-one years of her life.  She attended St. Alexius School of Nursing there and worked as an R.N. until her retirement at age 62.  It was a profession that she loved, especially time spent in critical care.  The last of her working years were in the Emergency Room at St. Mary’s of Superior.  She worked as a nurse in many places including Minnesota, California and Colorado.  In addition to her nursing education, she attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and majored in history.

She was an avid reader and had a lifelong love of learning.  She was also a dedicated quilter, gardener, and traveler.  But the greatest interest in her life was family.

Adeline  is survived by her husband of forty-six years Timothy, whom she met on a trip to North Africa, though he is from northern Wisconsin; son Alexander, his wife Kathryn, and their children Natalie and Oliver; daughter-in-law, Joy Kubarek; brothers, Harold  Kolberg, Jack Kolberg (Valerie), and Joseph Kolberg; and sisters Dottie Degen (Edward) and Jeanette Kolberg.  She is also survived by members of her husband’s family, Sandra Williams (Tom), Tony Sandor (Alberte), Jean Jablonski, Mary Anne Foley (Larry), Elizabeth DeDecker, Dave Pratt, Terry Boren (Mike), and Mike Sandor (Dianne) and many nieces, nephews and good friends who were very special to her.

She was preceded in death by parents John and Marie Kolberg, parents-in-law Anthony and Theresa Sandor, son Joseph, brothers Edward and Roger, sisters-in-law JoAnne Sandor, Susan Pratt and brother-in-law Zyg Jablonski.
