Ailie Marie Parzatka

September 17, 1916 — April 18, 2019

Ailie Marie (Soyring) Parzatka, 102, Superior, former longtime Maple resident, died Thursday, April 18, 2019. She was born on September 17, 1916 in Maple, WI to Isaac and Marie (Autio) Soyring.

Ailie married Albert Paul Parzatka on August 27, 1941 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage before he passed away in 1999. Following their marriage, they moved to Chicago and returned to Maple in 1942 where she resided for many years.

She was employed at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center early in her marriage and later worked for the Maple School District until her retirement in 1970. She also helped raise two nieces, Delores Gunderson and Carol Zallor; and two nephews, Clarence “Sunshine” and Gerald “Jerry” Soyring.

Ailie was active with the Maple Fire Department Auxiliary for many years; the Faith Lutheran Church where she served on the Dorcus Committee and Lutheran World Relief and Board of Sharing.

Ailie was a very active lady. She enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, dancing, riding snowmobiles and singing in the church choir. She had a great love of the outdoors and a very loving heart for our outdoor family such as deer, birds, cats and dogs. She enjoyed working in her yard and had beautiful flower beds. She liked to cook and was a very good cook. She also made a trip to Finland to visit relatives and wanted to go back another time. She kept up her Finnish heritage with love of her sauna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; her brothers, William, Evalt, Walter, John, Hjalmer, Albert, Arthur and Richard; her sisters-in-law, Ellen Soyring, Sally Soyring, Dorothy Soyring, Lila Soyring; mother and father-in-law, Albert and Ann Parzatka; special nephew, Clarence Soyring; and special niece, Delores Gunderson; and her dear friend and nursing home roommate, Helen (Sandberg) Evans.

She is survived by nieces; nephews; and a few cousins.

Ailie’s positive energy was contagious. Her big, infectious smile, friendliness, and genuine kindness for people will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
