Alice M. Berg

Alice M. Berg, 88, lifelong Superior area resident, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.

She was born on January 22, 1922 in Superior, WI to Valentine and Victoria Sniadak.

She married John Berg on January 22, 1944 which is also her birthday and celebrated forty-four years of marriage before his passing in 1988.

Alice was a longtime committed employee of the Superior School District for over thirty years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, craftwork and crocheting.

Alice is survived by her son, William Berg, Superior, WI; three grandchildren, Jim (Kelly) Lord, Hermantown, MN, Robert Lord, Superior, WI and Kristin Lord, Hudson, WI; two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Cora Lord and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John in 1988, daughter, Marie Lord in 1998; sisters, Mary Gambeski, Ann Checker and two infant sisters and a brother, Joseph Sniadak.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 29, 2010 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
