Allan Johnson

Allan C. Johnson, 85, Superior, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, MN.

He was born on October 2, 1928 in Douglas County (Cloverland Township), Wisconsin to Hjalmer and Ailie (Loustari) Johnson.


Allan served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1950 and was stationed in Korea and Japan.

On October 27, 1951 he married Mary Jane Johnson in Superior, WI. They moved to Davenport, IA where he worked as a machinist for the Federal Arsenal in Rock Island, IL. They returned to Cloverland in 1952 and resided there until they moved to Superior in 1984.

After returning from Iowa, Allan worked at Duplex Pump until 1955 and then was employed as a machinist, planning department manager and plant manager at Lidgerwood Mundy for thirty-two years before his retirement in 1987.

He was an avid Milwaukee Braves/Brewers fan and a Packer Backer.

Allan was also a supporter of all democrats especially Bob Jauch and the Clintons.

He is survived by two sons, Joel (Lana) Johnson, Hayward, WI, Steven (Marilyn) Johnson, Foxboro, WI; four grandchildren, Lindsay Johnson, Greenwood, WI, Keith (Amy) Johnson, San Diego, CA, Christopher Johnson, Minneapolis, MN and Scott (Kristie) Johnson, Duluth, MN; three great-grandchildren, Elise and Norah Johnson, Duluth, MN, Neil Johnson, San Diego, CA; one brother, Charles (Sandy) Johnson, Spooner, WI and many nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane in 2010; his son Kenneth in 1984; and his sisters, Lois Hansen and Dorothy McLean.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Friday, December 27, 2013 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Pastor Will Mowchan of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will in the Resthaven Cemetery in the spring.
