Allen Edward Carroll, 74, Lake Nebagamon resident, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Middle River Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Superior, WI on January 5, 1935 to Clarence J. and Lillian E. (Anderson) Carroll. He married Ione Sickler on September 26, 1953 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.
Allen is survived by his wife, Ione; two sons, Edward (Anna) and Robert (Deb Acosta) Carroll; one foster son, David (Star Strcharske) Polaski; nine grandchildren, Penny (Tom) Hautajarvi, Billy (Amanda) Carroll, James, Tracy & Amanda Carroll, Krystal & Christopher, Rick & Griffin; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cheyenne & Jasmine; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lois & Everett Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Beth Ann in 1954 and Cynthia Ray in 1959 and one son, Ronald John in 1965 and one great-grandson, Kaleb Matthew Hautajarvi in 2005.
Allen was a member of the Town of Superior Volunteer Fire Department from the time of its inception in 1961 and served as president of BRRS Club in 1982 and was the Town of Highland Fire Chief for 14 years.
He worked at Superior Lidgerwood Mundy for thirty-seven years.
He was a member of the Monday Night Bushwhackers Golf League at Pattison Park, the senior leagues at Norwood and Bottons Green Acres Golf Courses, the Superior Trap & Gun Club, Amnicon Lake Chitt-Chatters C.B. Radio Club, Midwest Minnesota and Wisconsin Four Wheel Drive Associations, and the United Commercial Travelers. He was also a member of the Moose Club, and 4H Club for over 25 years.
He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM with the memorial service to follow on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Town of Highland Town Hall, 9360 Cty Tk S, Lake Nebagamon, WI. Pastor Ken Andrs of Lake Point Church Officiating.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be members of the Town of Highland Volunteer Fire Department Honor Guard.
