Althea M. Parsons

Althea M. Parsons, 83, lifelong Poplar area resident, died peacefully Monday, August 26, 2019 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in Superior, August 15, 1936, the daughter of Aaron and Edith (Paulson) Bloom.

She was a graduate of Northwestern High School’s class of 1954.

Althea was united in marriage to Robert Parsons in Poplar, WI on August 29, 1964, and they celebrated fifty-one years of marriage before his passing 2015.

She worked as a secretary at Minnesota Power & Light for thirty-nine years before her retirement. She attended Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, and participated in their senior program. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, and making mittens for Christmas gifts. Following her retirement, she also enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by her sister, Janice Halli, Duluth, MN; sister-in-law, Martha (Al) Mayeu; brother-in-law, Don (Lee) Parsons; nieces, Lauri Halli, Linda (Mark) Howitz, and Holly Parsons; and nephews, Chris (Sara) Mayeu, and Ethan (Jennifer) Mayeu; great-nieces, Rebekah and Sarah Howitz, Catherine Mayeu, and Cavie Mayeu; great-nephew, Conner Mayeu; and goddaughter, Alexandra Prill.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Lee Halli; her parents; and her in-laws, Dewitt and Helen Parsons.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 S. County Highway P, Poplar, WI, and will continue until the 3:00 PM Memorial Service with Pastor Darrell Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial be made to Mission Covenant Church in Poplar.
