Alvin D. Abrahamson

Alvin (Sonny) Abrahamson, 89, Superior, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Dove Healthcare, Superior, WI, surrounded by family.  He was born in Lake Nebagamon, WI on August 29, 1935, to Nicklas and Lydia (Matson) Abrahamson.

Sonny served his country in the National Guard being called up for duty during the Cuban Crisis. He was employed by the State of WI (Grain Elevators and UWS Bookstore) for his entire career.

Sonny married the love of his life, Sandy Chapman, on December 8, 1956, and celebrated nearly 54 years of marriage before Sandy’s passing in July 2010.

Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.

Sonny was preceded in death by his wife Sandy, parents, by brothers Arne and Leonard, and sisters, Inga, Ina, Irene, Ingrid, Illie, and Elaine.

Sonny is survived by his three children, Scott (Terri Mehtala) Abrahamson and their family, Alaina Graves, Linda (Mike Kilbury) Abrahamson, his two granddaughters Deidre (Jonathan) Bouvine and Krystin (Andy) Laszewski, great grandchildren Sawyer, Roxy, and Bodhi Bouvine, Jonah Laszewski, and baby girl Laszewski due in February.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Twin Ports Health Services and Dove Healthcare of Superior for the excellent care and compassion provided to Sonny in the last year and a half of his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 2-5 pm at Dreamland Supper Club, 4368 County Road E, South Range, WI.
