Amanda Rai Nieman

Amanda Rai Nieman, 31, former resident of Superior, passed away tragically from a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Foley, MN. She was born in Duluth, MN on May 5, 1993, the daughter of Joel Nieman and Julie Remington.

She graduated from Superior High School in the class of 2011. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, then furthered her education at the College of St. Scholastica, in Duluth, earning her master's degree in education. She had spent the last four months working for the Becker, MN School District, as a first-grade teacher, and joined their teacher's union.

Amanda was an amazingly beautiful and talented woman who loved her career and often spoke about how fond she was of her first-grade class. She enjoyed all kinds of music, but especially her favorite band, ABBA. Amanda was also passionate about the violin and played beautifully. In her free time, Amanda enjoyed gaming, crafting, loved animals and all things Disney.

She will be forever missed by her mother, Julie Remington, Superior; sister Samantha (Logan) Amys, Superior; brothers Jason (Kim) Nieman, Superior and Timothy Nieman, Duluth; aunts Betti (Bill) Warn, Superior and Patti Remington, Superior; uncle Wade (Kris) Remington, Superior; her niece and goddaughter Fiona Amys; nieces Elle Liegh (Mike) and Bella; nephews Jaeden and Joel; and feline companion Winnie.

Amanda is preceded in death by her father Joel Nieman; maternal grandparents Ron and Judy Remington; paternal grandparents Ray and Millie Nieman; cousin Steven Pettit; and uncle Cannonball Pettit.

A Celebration of Amanda's Life will be held Saturday, April 26th from 2 pm to 6 pm at Borders Sports Bar and Grill, 3028 E. State Road 105, in Superior, WI. The family asks that everyone wear Pink to honor Amanda.
