Andre "Andy" L. Drinkwine

Andre “Andy” L. Drinkwine, 84, lifelong resident of Superior, died Monday, March 6, 2017 in Duluth, MN. He was born August 2, 1932 in Superior, WI the son of Walter and Fedelis (Rehl) Drinkwine.

Andy married Joyce I. Polson on January 12, 1952 at St. James Catholic Church in Duluth, MN. They recently celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before his passing. The most important parts of Andy’s life were his family and his faith.

He worked as a crane operator at U.S. Steel Plant in Duluth, MN until they closed. After which he started his own business, Village Builders, where he was a respected home builder for more than twenty years in the Twin Ports area. After retirement Andre especially loved growing flowers. His hobby grew into a business and drew customers from all around the Duluth-Superior area.

Andy was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior and the Knights of Columbus. He took great pride in building all of the oak altars, tables, and benches for the church.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; daughters, Kathy Drinkwine and Peggy (Bruce) Olson, both of Superior; son Dave (Carolyn) Drinkwine, Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Holli (Jason) Van Overbeke, St. Paul, MN, Ryan (Shannon) Olson, Oak Harbor, WA, Tyler Olson, Duluth, MN, Lacey Olson, Charleston, NC, Peter (Caitlin) Drinkwine, Duluth, MN and great-grandchildren, Reagan and Harrison Olson, Oak Harbor, WA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter Jr. and Thomas Drinkwine and sisters, Mary Jane Hawkinson and Audrey Flagstad.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Avenue, Superior, WI and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Ron Olson officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
