Andrew J. “Andy” Renquist, 51, lifelong Superior resident, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth after a very long battle with cancer. He was born on August 29, 1964 in Superior, WI to Robert and Mary (Miller) Renquist.
Many years ago he worked at Con Agra Foods and then went on to the St. Francis Nursing Home from there he was employed by the City of Superior.
Andy loved the outdoors and animals and he liked to go fishing. He also loved music and enjoyed playing guitar. One of his passions was working on small engines. He could get practically anything to run again. He was witty and funny and everyone liked him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Andy is survived by his loving parents, Mary and Robert; one sister, Jill Swanson; one brother, Tom (Darlene) Renquist; two nephews, Jamie Renquist and Aaron Williams and one great-nephew, Keaton Williams and one great-niece, Elle Williams. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Darlene “Dolly” Edquist who was there for him every step of the way, and his friends, John Gehrke, Dan Archambault and Linda Rask who were very special to him, among others.
He is preceded in death by a brother Rob Renquist in 2002.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 12:00 funeral service with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King Church, officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Superior.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tom Renquist, John Gehrke, Keaton Williams, Dan Archambault, Jimmy Fortin, and Dave Edquist. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Conner and Chris Edquist.
