Anita Rae Williams, 82, lifelong Superior resident, passed away on December 5, 2024, surrounded by her family, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.
She was born in Superior on October 3, 1942, the daughter of Harry and Sally (Anderson) Longberg.
After Anita graduated high school, she attended college and earn an associate’s degree in accounting. From there she began her career at Sailboats Incorporated on Barker’s Island in Superior. She worked there for over twenty years and loved every minute. Though she did not love the water; she loved working there and even had her sailor’s license!
In her free time, Anita loved to read and owned nearly a library full of novels. She could finish a book with hundreds of pages in just a few days! Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Anita is survived by her children Jon Williams and Lynn Grimsrud, both of Superior; grandchildren Jack, Robert, Stacy, Christin, Amber, Grant, and Allen; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Dale (Marilyn) Williams; sister-in-law Vicki (Terry) Davis; and her dear friend Sue Connolly.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry; brother Dean Longberg and his wife Carol; her parents Harry and Sally; and her good friend and neighbor Lori Schweiger.
A Celebration of Anita’s life will be held from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Billings Park Civic Center, 3903 N. 18th Street in Superior.
