Anna C. "Gramma Boo" Gucinski, 102, longtime Superior resident, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 in the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 26, 1907 in Pennsylvania to Joseph and Catherine Kostac and was raised in Montreal, WI. She later went to work in Chicago where she met Stanley Gucinski whom she married on May 31, 1930 in Chicago. She was employed with Siegels Clothing Store for many years.
Anna was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She also enjoyed knitting, picking blueberries and mushrooms in earlier years. She loved to baby-sit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by four children, Gerald (DeLois) Gucinski, Gordon, WI, Frances (Laurence "Skip") Cloutier, Dodgeville, WI, Martin (Judy) Gucinski, Wascott, WI and Joseph (Sandara) Gucinski, Superior; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lempi Kostac, Hurley, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1958, her parents, one great-grandson, David John Gucinski, four sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 3, 2009 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Rev. Fr. James Tobolski will be celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Anna's family would like to extend "special thanks" to the staff at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to Anna.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cathedral Catholic School.
