Anthony Genovese

Anthony Genovese, 90, lifelong Superior area resident, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at St. Francis Home in the Park.
He was born in Superior on November 21, 1918 the son of Francesco and Josephine (Daveni) Genovese.
Anthony was employed by United States Steel as a Stationary Engineer, retiring in 1981 after twenty-three years of employment.
He was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Billings Park, Superior.
Anthony was a licensed pilot and loved to fly aircraft whenever he was able. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and also enjoyed spending time at the Bong Airport.
Anthony is survived by two daughters, Claudia (Larry) Olson, Washburn, WI
and Chris (Thomas) Patnode, Seattle, WA; two sons, Gary (Judy) Genovese, Duluth, MN and Francis Dean Genovese, Superior; three sisters, Mary Bye, Appleton, WI, Cecelia Gould, Milwaukee, WI; and June (Walter) Zehm, Milwaukee, WI; seven grandchildren, Natalie (Jeremy) Olson Budish, Aaron Olson, Joe (Nancy Peterson) Genovese, Gina Genovese, Ben (Kristin) Genovese, Craig Patnode and Lisa Patnode; two great-grandchildren, Ava Budish and Nolan Budish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 1993; one sister, Catherine Squire and one brother, Joe Genovese.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2009 and continue until the 11:30 AM Funeral Service in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Sara Larsen, officiating.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Superior.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tim Braman, Larry Olson, George “Skip” Olson, Tom Flagstad, Bill Amorde and Sally Pionk.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Anthony’s name to the Douglas County Humane Society.
