On May 20 th , 2019, Tony LaValley, age 60, passed away in his home due to complications with diabetes. A Superior native, Tony attended Cooper School, Central, and SSHS, graduating in 1977. Tony was well known in Superior among sports fans whether he was coaching and umping youth softball, reffing basketball, or playing. He loved bowling too, and often played on 2 or even 3 baseball teams simultaneously. He loved the Packers and the Brewers. In these later years, he enjoyed being a baseball umpire for several seasons locally. He was happy and proud to be a veteran of the National Guard, as was his father before him. His most recent employer was Field Logic of Superior. Tony especially liked his coworkers and supervisor. He loved his job.

Tony had a zest for life and loved to entertain his friends with jokes and humorous stories .He had an amazing memory for sports memorabilia and facts, surprising friends with his total recall. His sisters called him a “wonderful big brother” and he will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Tony never married, but enjoyed the comfort of a large immediate family. Sibling survivors include: Bernie LaValley Jr. (Mah Terese), Annette Burrows LaValley, Mary LaValley, (Corey), Alice Zulock (Matthew), Colleen Sandie (Malachy), and Andy LaValley (Jen). Preceding Tony in death were his parents, Bernard LaValley Sr., Betty (Griffin) LaValley, a sister Sharon Cooper LaValley, and infant brother, Roger LaValley. Tony is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles, and many cousins.
