Arlene E. “Arlie” Morrison (DeRosier), 70, lifelong resident of Duluth, MN, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Solvay Hospice House. She was born in Duluth, August 1, 1949, the daughter of John M. and Beverly R. (Eskola) DeRosier.
She graduated from Duluth Cathedral in 1967 and went on to earn her degree from Lake Superior College.
Arlie was united in marriage to her best friend, Timothy Morrison, July 20, 1985 and they celebrated twenty years of marriage before his passing in 2005.
She worked many years for the City of Duluth Engineering Division and retired from the Water and Gas Department. Prior to that, Arlie dedicated many years to the Duluth Paper Mill, working with the youth at Renaissance House where she touched the lives of many, and was also head of security at Glass Block.
Arlie enjoyed golfing, bowling, and her late night runs to the casino with her son and father. She cherished her family and had an unwavering faith that she passed on to many. She will forever be remembered for her loving spirit and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved children, Laura Pursi, Daniel “Boonie” Pursi, Ryan Pursi, special friend, RaeAnn Sojka who was like a daughter to her, and Christina and Anna Morrison; grandchildren, Derek (Hannah) Armstrong, Adam Liljegren, Matthew, Anthony, Andrew, Jeffrey, Amanda, and Tyler; great-grandson, Camden; father, Jack DeRosier; siblings, Kathy (John Soderlund) Towle, Gary (Maureen) DeRosier, and Laura “Laurie” (Steve) Owen; nieces and nephews, Jennifer “Binky” (Bryan) Gasche, Natalie (Mike) Schwartz, John DeRosier, Alex Owen, Brandon (Denise) Owen, Jake (Mary) Theivagt, and Clayton (Theresa) Theivagt; Aunt, Carol Eskola; and Uncles, William DeRosier, and Gerald DeRosier, all of whom she loved dearly; her beloved dog, Boo; and many special great-nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Timothy F. Morrison; mother, Beverly DeRosier; special niece, Vicki Towle; and the father of her children, Robert K. Pursi.
A Celebration of Arlie’s Life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Clyde Iron Works, 2920 W. Michigan Street, Duluth, with a Memorial Service to begin at 3:00 PM. Rev. Fr. James Tobolski will officiate.
