Arthur E. “Art” Legore, 87, longtime area resident, died Saturday, November 2, 2019 surrounded by his family at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. He was born in Racine, WI, May 14, 1932, the son of Albert and Edna Legore.
Art served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for twenty-two years. Additionally, he worked as the Douglas County Veterans Service Officer, retiring after twenty years.
Art was united in marriage to Darlene Shave Decker, September 21, 1974, and they recently celebrated forty-five years of marriage before his passing.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Solon Springs, WI, for over twenty-five years. He was also a member the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Art enjoyed hunting, reading, and traveling, and twenty years spent in Lake Havasu, AZ. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends, and trips to the casino with his daughter, Donna. He also enjoyed working with his hands and took great pride in caring for his lawn.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Legore, Superior, WI; children, Linda (Harry) Sanders, Pachuta, MS, Cindi (Tug) Risingsun, and Terri Legore, both of Duluth, MN, Donna (Bob) Ennis, Superior, WI, Vicki Lizana, Biloxi, MS, and Connie Matthew, Duluth, MN; step-children, Lee Decker, Appleton, WI, Paula (Mike) O’Brien, Burnsville, MN, Gary (Evelyn) Decker, Appleton, WI, and Jack Decker, Klamath Falls, CA; seventeen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Lord Legore; sister, Betty Legore; step-daughter, Karen Decker; and grandson, Jordan Michael Matthew.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 11405 S. 1 st Street West, Solon Springs, WI, and will continue until the 12:00 PM Memorial Service with Pastor Jason Clifton officiating.
The Church is handicap accessible
Chuck Walt, John Walt, Curt Anderson, Patrick Ennis, Robert Ennis, David Decker, Jonathan O’Brien, and Mike Schmidt will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Lockmen-Jensen American Legion Post #499 Honor Guard of Gordon, WI.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Art’s name to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Solon Springs.
