Barbara Mitchell-Tutor, longtime Iron River, Wisconsin area resident died peacefully, Friday, May 29, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Black Duck, Minnesota on August 13, 1937 the daughter of Norman and Irene (Langford) Coudray.
She graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, Wisconsin.
Barb was an independent business owner and entrepreneur and received her certification with the ELCA synod in lay ministry.
She was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church, Poplar, where she served as lay minister. Her lay ministry was an extremely important part of Barb's life.
Barbara previously owned and operated the Neighborhood Natural Foods Store in Iron River with her first husband, Charles Mitchell.
Barb loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She most recently enjoyed raising Scottish Highlander Cattle with her husband, George.
Barbara is survived by three daughters, Terri Mitchell, Superior; Carol (Chris) Cain, White Hall, Arkansas and Robin (Jerome) Kuter, Janesville, Wisconsin; one son, Dale (Kim) Mitchell, Iron River; six step children, George (Judy) Tutor, Jim (April) Tutor, Wally (Cindy) Tutor, Evelyn Pamer, Denice (Chris) Harris and Danny Tutor; three sisters, Mary Margaret (Richard) Kreager, Omaha, Nebraska; Bernice Anderson, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Diane Coudray, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; two brothers, David (Sandy) Coudray, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Michael (Mary) Coudray, Belleville, Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Mitchell; two sons, Jeffrey Mitchell and Scott Mitchell; and her parents.
Visitation will begin after 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in Peace Lutheran Church, Poplar, Wisconsin and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Greg Gullicksrud, officiating.
Barb's grand children and great grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior, Wisconsin assisting the family with arrangements.
