Barbara J. Olson

Barbara J. Olson, 83, longtime resident of Iron River, WI, died peacefully, Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Villa Marina Health Center in Superior, WI with her family by her side. She was born in Superior, April 30, 1936, the daughter of Hans and Betsey (Johnson) Carlson.

She was united in marriage to Donald Olson, August 14, 1954 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior, where they resided until 1980 when they moved to Iron River. They celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before her passing.

Barbara taught Head Start in Superior for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1998. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Superior.

Barbara loved the lake and the country life in Iron River. She cherished the many happy memories shared with her family and friends at their lake home.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Olson, Iron River; daughter, Dianne (Rob) Barden, of Florida, Donna (Jeff) Liebaert, Superior, WI, and Deborah (Randy) Sharbonno, Iron River, WI; son, Daniel (Dana) Olson, Oulu, WI; grandchildren, Chad, Heather, Blake, Andrew, Ross, Ashley, Claire, Laura, Brent, Kristy, and Abby; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; and two grandchildren, Matthew Liebaert, and Kyle Sharbonno.

A Time of Remembrance will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 ^th Street, Superior, WI, with a service to begin at 3:00 PM with John Maynard officiating.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Villa Marina Health Center, for the wonderful care they offered Barbara during her stay.
