Barbara J. Ortt, 74, Superior resident, died August 14, 2013 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior.

She was born on May 3, 1939 in Freeport, IL to Wallace and Anna (Schildwachter) Boyer.

She married Gerald R. Ortt on March 9, 1957 in Phoenix, AZ and celebrated fifty-six years of marriage.

Barbara previously worked for the Brainerd School District. She also was a Beauty Operator and retired from Super One Foods where she worked for many years.

Barbara was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. She also was a member of TOPS.

She enjoyed many things like baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting and volleyball. She also enjoyed making flower arrangements for all family weddings and proms, doing Sudoku puzzles and especially loved playing bunko with her many friends she adored.

Barbara will be sadly missed for she was a beautiful, caring, loving person who said “She was never bored a day in her life.” She truly loved life.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Gerald; four daughters, Debbie (Dave) Boileau, Fort Collins, CO, Linda (Greg) Weber, Cold Spring, MN, Carolyn (Randy) Koglin, Avon, MN and Gayle McMinn, Superior, WI; two sons, Robert (Kay) Ortt, Coon Rapids, MN and Jerry Ortt, Duluth, MN; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Connie) Wagner and Richard (Maridy) Brinkmeier, both of Freeport, IL and a sister, Beverly Ranck, San Diego, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Anna, and son, Douglas A. Ortt.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:30 PM, Friday, August 16, 2013 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Father Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Superior

Pallbearers for the service will be Melissa Burrows, Jenny Lindahl, Lisa Mahowald, Nichole and Natalie McMinn, Samantha and Amanda Weber, Katie Boileau, Crystal and Megan Koglin.

The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
