Barbara J. Stranko, 84, lifelong Superior resident, died peacefully, Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Superior, July 27, 1935, the daughter of William and Margaret (Appliski) Andrews.
Barb was united in marriage to James Stranko, June 26, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Church in Billings Park, and they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before her passing.
She worked in food service at the University of Wisconsin-Superior for over forty years before her retirement in 2012. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and the Superior Moose Lodge #606. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, and she enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James Stranko, Superior, WI; daughters, Nancy (Kirk) Parks, Iowa City, IA, and Laurie (Jason) Johnson, Poplar, WI; son, David (Barbara) Stranko, South Range, WI; grandchildren, David, Leslie, Christopher, Kevin, Jessica, and Shauna; great-granddaughter, Arianna; brother-in-law, Mike Stranko; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl; and sisters, Arlene, Joyce, and Jen.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 5, 2020, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4 th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
