Benedict "Ben" J. Polaski

Benedict “Ben” J. Polaski, 92, lifelong Superior resident, died peacefully, Friday, September 3, 2021, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born in Superior April 8, 1929, the son of Joseph and Mary (Westfall) Polaski.

He graduated high school and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army where he served in Germany for two years during peace time before being sent to Korea.

Ben was united in marriage to Donna Lasch, July 11, 1964, and they recently celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage before his passing. He worked for Burlington Northern Railway for over thirty years before retiring in 1987. Ben was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior. He was a loving and devoted husband and loved to travel with his beloved wife.

In addition to his wife, Donna, Ben is survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy (Lloyd) Bangs; brothers-in-law, Herbert (Susan) Lasch and Robert Lasch; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his four brothers Peter, Joseph, Ade, and Phillip; and four sisters, Mary Groves, Sister Mary Thecla, Florence Schroeder, and Anna Sablatura; and his parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4 ^th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ben’s name to St. Francis Xavier Church or to the VFW Honor Guard Post 435.
