Bernadine Louise “Bernie” Peterson, 80, longtime Poplar resident, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on February 22, 1934 in Brevator Township, Minnesota to Ernest and Mary (Anderson) Reynolds and grew up in Wrenshall, MN.
She married Verlyn Peterson on June 19, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Duluth, MN and celebrated 59 years of marriage.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar, WI and a member of the former Bethany Lutheran Church before the merger.
In addition to her husband, Verlyn, Bernie is survived by one son, Gary (Mary) Peterson, Poplar; one daughter, Gail Renae (James) Peterson George, Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Christopher Peterson, Poplar, Melissa (Cassidy) Javner, Minto, ND and Cory Peterson, Poplar; one great-granddaughter, Ali Jo Javner; three sisters, Shirley Johnson, Two Harbors, MN, Mavis Fulda, Duluth, Janice Boland, Two Harbors, MN; one brother Bobby Reynolds, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Kevin John; a daughter, Lauri Ann; her parents; three brothers, Larry Cecil and Clifford Reynolds and two sisters, Martha Ruud and Gail Hamilton.
Visitation will begin a 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 and will continue until the 10:00 AM Memorial Service at Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar with Pastor Terrance Stratton, officiating.
Burial will be in the Poplar Cemetery.
