Bernadine Sampson

Bernadine Sampson, 80, South Range, WI resident, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. She was born on April 29, 1938 in Superior, WI to Paul and Serafina (Karaba) Hudacek. She was the ninth child of a family of thirteen.

Bernadine married Richard “Dick” Sampson on October 17, 1959 and they celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. She was a homemaker and previously worked at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital as a RN for over 20 years and also was an employee of Prange Way and Target.

Bernadine was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, knitting for church charities, roller skating, dancing and traveling with her husband, Dick. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Bernadine is survived by her husband, Dick; two daughters, Ann Marie (Curtis) Smerud, New Hope, MN and Jill (Dan) Moots, Ham Lake, MN; one son, Robert (Nicole) Sampson, Robbinsdale, MN; seven grandchildren and her siblings, John Hudacek, Paul Hudacek, Fran Turk, Sally Ward, Ed Hudacek, Bill Hudacek and David Hudacek.

She is preceded in death by her son Richard Sampson Jr. in 2012, her parents and siblings Betty Meysman, Theresa Paulus, Mary Doyle, Joe Hudacek and Tom Hudacek.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 12:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior. Pallbearers for the service will be Robert Sampson, Wayne Gilroy, Curtis Smerud, Dan Moots, Curtis Smerud, Jr. and Aaron Moots.
