Bernelle J. Haslerud

Bernelle “Bunni” Jean Haslerud, 59, longtime Superior resident, died peacefully surrounded by her family and dear friends on January 9, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on November 11, 1952 in Superior, WI to William and Bernelle (Budnick) LaBounty. She spent her childhood years in Nyssa, OR before returning to Superior as a teen.

She graduated from Superior Senior High School and WITC.
Bernelle was employed as a secretary for WITC for twenty-five years.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, the Superior Elks Lodge #403 and an active member of Labor Union AFT 4019.

Family was very important to Bernelle. She enjoyed genealogy and was the family historian. She also loved gardening and music. Bernelle enjoyed helping other people.

Bernelle is survived by her husband, Mark, Superior, WI; son, Patrick (Alexandra) Nelson, Minneapolis, MN; sister, Ruthanne (Jon) Amundson, Superior, WI, brothers, William (Rebecca) LaBounty, Nashville, TN and Robert (Viola) LaBounty, Solon Springs, WI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Jessica Nelson White.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Concordia Lutheran Church and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Patrick Ziems officiating.

Inurnment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior at a later date.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
