Bernice L. Langford

Bernice L. Langford, 80, longtime Superior area resident, and recently a South Range resident, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 21, 1933 in Washburn, WI, the daughter of Ruben and Vera (Cook) Lawin.

She worked in the grocery business for many years and was an owner operator of Les’s Grocery Store in Billings Park for over twenty years retiring at the age of seventy-four.

Bernice is survived by eight daughters, Terry (Jeff) LaPorte, Superior, WI; Karen Davis, Fridley, MN; Linda (Dale) Beckwell, Superior, WI; Brenda (Kevin) Welch, Hayward, WI; Cheryl (Dave) Bublitz, South Range, WI; Vickie (Marvin) Cummings, Superior, WI; Valerie (Rob) LaPorte, Red Wing, MN; and Patricia (Bruce) Hanstein, Cortez, Colorado; one son, Roy (Karla Mackie) Langford, Poplar, WI; thirty grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin (Barb) Lawin, Cary, North Carolina; two sisters, Elaine (Wayne) Langford, Hawthorne, WI and Vera Jedlicka-Maehl, Banderas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-five years, C Roy Langford in 1998; her daughter, Lisa Jo Langford; a brother, Eugene Lawin and a sister, Edith Pupuis.


Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior, with a Scripture Service scheduled for 7:00 PM that evening.

Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Sangmoon Kim and Rev Fr. Dean Buttrick, concelebrating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Marcus LaPorte, Mitch Langford, Cassandra Seguin, Rachel Davis, David Archambeault, Sarah Langford, Brandon Lancour and Tyler LaPorte.

Burial will be in St Francis Cemetery, Superior.
