Bette Elaine Rubel

Bette Elaine Rubel, 90, lifelong Superior resident, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in Superior June 18, 1927, the daughter of Gordon and Mena (Hagen) Thomas.

Bette graduated from East High School in Superior.

She was united in marriage to George Rubel in 1948, and they celebrated fifty-three years of marriage before his passing in 2001.

Bette dedicated her years as a homemaker and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Alice) Rubel, Houston, TX, and Andrew (Lyn) Rubel, Cottage Grove, MN; daughters, Sue Seikkula, Superior, WI, and Lynne Bachinski, Superior, WI; brother, William “Bucky” (Joyce) Thomas, Kenosha, WI; ten grandchildren, Corrie, Michelle, Jason, Jennifer, Amy, Kerry, Tammy, Nicholas, Bekah and Kylie; and several great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George; parents; son, George “Mike” Rubel Jr.; great-granddaughter, Evelyn R. O’Brien; brother, Darrel “Babe” Thomas; and sister, Avis Kelly

Per Bette’s wishes, private family services will be held in Superior, WI.
