Betty J. Bohn

Betty J. Bohn, 93, of Superior, WI, former longtime resident of Luck, WI, died peacefully, Friday, October 9, 2020 at New Perspectives Senior Living in Superior. She was born in Sprit Lake, IA, May 17, 1927, the daughter of Ira and Mary (Umscheid) Butcher.

Betty was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church in Spirit Lake, IA. She graduated high school in 1944. During those years, Betty worked at the Rationing Board, the County Clerk’s Office, and Laundry and Kaplin’s Grocery Store.

She was united in marriage to Arlo Bohn, January 25, 1945 in Sacramento, CA, while he was on leave from the Navy.

She started her telephone career with Telephone & Telegraph in Woodland, CA, as a telephone operator, both local and long distance, and retired from Century Telephone Co. in 1989 after twenty-six years of dedicated service. In addition, she worked as a Post Office Clerk with Luck Post Office, was a paraprofessional with Luck School, and kept the beloved farm going.

Betty was also active in her community and volunteered her time at the Fredric Hospital, Luck Library, Luck School, the Senior Center, and West Denmark and Bone Lake Churches.

She loved the Telephone Company, horses, the outdoors, and her log house on the farm; she honored and respected the Military men and women and, above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Ron), Suzanne, Kathleen (Pete), Richard (Kathy), Donald (Cindy), Dann, and Dale (Becky).

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother; husbands; Arlo Bohn and Dorayne Paulsen; great-granddaughter, Kassidy; and son-in-law, Jim Jensen.

Per Betty’s wishes, no public services will be held.
