Betty (Sorenson) Eliason

NOTICE OF CORRECTION OF TIME CHANGE

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear Mom, Grandma and Aunt Betty (Sorenson) Eliason. She passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019 at the age of 98.

Betty was born on February 17, 1921 to James and Minnie (Bonde) Sorenson on Iowa Avenue in Superior, Wisconsin. She attended Peter Cooper School and various Detroit Michigan Schools while her father worked on the Great Lakes. She was happy when they returned to Superior where she graduated from Central High School. She loved being a “Billings Parker”.

Betty married LeRoy (Roy) Eliason on August 24, 1949 and celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. Betty and Roy owned and operated Ideal Drug Store on 5 ^th street and Ogden Avenue and later People’s Drug Store. In retirement, they enjoyed Mesa, Arizona in the Winter and Summers on Lake Minnesuing in Wisconsin.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Billings Park and presently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon.

Betty loved people and being involved in many activities in which she usually became “The President”. These included Norwood Ladies and Mesa, AZ golf leagues, Tuesday Ladies Skating Club, Garden and Birthday Clubs, PTA, Cub Scout Leader, Lutheran Women’s Circle and her Bunko group. She even coached hockey when the need arose. Most of all she loved her family and friends. If you weren’t a friend, you soon became one.

Betty is survived by her loving family that includes her children, Irene Eliason, Jeff (Pat) Eliason, Becky (Terry) Jablonski and Joe (Catharine) Eliason, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica (Refi) Eliason-Olson, Kristin Eliason, Jeffrey David Eliason, Melissa Eliason, Lane Eliason and Joey Eliason and her great grandson, Caden Eliason. She was looking forward to the birth of her great grandson, Eliason-Olson. She is also survived by nieces, Joan and Michael Ann and nephew Tom on the Sorenson side, as well as their families.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roy; parents; siblings James and Irene; sisters-in-law Harriet Allen and Mary Sorenson; nephew Steve Sorenson and cousin James McGinnis.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. and continue until the 3:00 p.m. service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11416 E 1st Street N, Lake Nebagamon, WI, with Pastor Darrell Kyle officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Encompass Assisted Living for their care and friendship as well as the Essentia Hospice Team. Betty’s strength, humor and love will always be with us.

The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
