Betty J. Kimmes

Betty J. Kimmes, 82, longtime Superior resident, died Monday, May 31, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on February 12, 1928 in Duluth, MN to Chris and Clara (Kucharsky) Engel.

Betty with her husband Jack were the owner/operators of Greenwood Campers Sales for nineteen years from 1972 to 1991.
She also was a volunteer for Interfaith Care Givers for many years.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Joan (Timothy) Flynn, Janet (Mike) Cadotte and Jacquelyne (Allen) Michael, all of Superior, WI; four sons, John Jr. (Beverly), Superior, WI, James, South Range, WI, Jeff (Vickie), Wrenshall, MN and Jerry (Nancy) Kimmes, Duluth, MN; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Engel, Moose Lake, MN; two sisters, Fay Heikenen, Junction City, WI and Janice Anderson, Green Valley, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Clara Engel, husband John “Jack” Kimmes, Sr., daughter, Judy Kimmes, brothers, Russell, Jack, LeRoy and Ed Engel and sister Marjorie Roy.

The family would like to thank St. Mary’s Hospice staff along with Dr. Jeff Lyon and Dr. Jon Sande for their care and support.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson of Holy Assumption Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.
Pallbearers for the service will be Betty’s grandsons, Daniel, John and Steve Kimmes, Allen Michael Jr., Troy Cadotte, Tim Jr. and Tyrone Flynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy and Chris Kimmes and Anthony Michael.
