Betty Mcmeekin-Gehrke

Betty S. McMeekin-Gehrke, 64, Superior, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. She was born on December 16, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Leonard and Stella (Waynard) Misunas.

Betty was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Francis Home in the Park.

She enjoyed fishing, flying, shopping, hiking, playing Yahtzee, gardening, taking trips to the casino and watching her birds on her deck.

She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-one years, John; one daughter, Cheri (Tom) Herbst, Duluth; two sons, Robert (Jaime) McMeekin, Superior, David McMeekin, Superior; one stepdaughter, Jodi (Kris) Haller, Superior; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Misunas, Duluth, Leonard (Diana) Misunas, Solon Springs; one uncle, Robert Misunas, North Carolina; one cousin, Donald Lincoln, Washington DC; many nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death her parents; her grandparents, Stanley and Bertha Misunas and two beloved dogs, Sasha and Kesha.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM Friday, January 14, 2011 until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service, also in the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Dean Buttrick will officiate.

Burial will be in the Nemadji Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Kris and Brandon Haller, Larry Price, Andrew Renquist, Tom Herbst and Tim Semborski. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
