Betty L. Sislo

April 16, 1928 — May 27, 2025

Betty L. Sislo, 97, a cherished and longtime resident of Superior, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. She was born in Spooner, WI on April 16, 1928, the daughter of George and Gertrude (Moore) Brown.

On August 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Raymond Sislo. Together they lovingly raised seven children and celebrated thirty years of marriage before his passing in April of 1980.

After her children were in school, Betty re-entered the workforce, dedicating her time to the Red Cross. She then spent many years working for the Superior School District and was a valued member of the Retired School Secretary’s Luncheon group. Betty was also a devoted and active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Superior where she served in various capacities. The Lady Quilters at Bethel was another group Betty greatly enjoyed part of.

Above all, Betty treasured spending time with her family and friends. She enthusiastically attended all activities her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in and was always willing to lend a helping hand to her neighbors and friends. Traveling was one of her favorite pastimes, especially the bus trips taken with the Senior St. Francis Travelers. Betty was a truly wonderful woman who will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her loving children: Kathryn (Robert Hill) Sislo, Judy Prose, Nancy (Jack) Ursin, and Betty R. Sislo, Gregory (Arlyn Hunter-Jensen) Sislo and Gary Sislo; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Sislo; her dear sister Lucille Allen, and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond; her son, Raymond G.; brothers Russell and Larry Brown; and her parents.

A Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Avenue in Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Service at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Darrell Kyle officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Superior.
