Betty Ann Strum, 78, lifelong resident of Superior, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 27, 2018. She was born August 6, 1939 in Superior, the daughter of Edward and Betty (Johnson) Thomson.
She graduated from the Superior Central High School, class of 1957, and went on to graduate from the Superior State Teachers College.
Betty married the love of her life, William “Bill” Strum on August 13, 1960 and they celebrated fifty years of marriage before his passing in 2010.
She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior, the Superior Curling Club, and the Red Hat Society.
Betty Ann worked, but her motivation was to take care of her family and friends, and to have fun. She enjoyed competition, fun and entertainment at the curling club, traveling, and talking on the phone. She especially loved spending time at the cabin with her family and friends, and her Friday night dinners with the friends she cherished and stayed in close contact with.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty years, Bill; parents; and nephew, John Somerville.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Pat) Berthiaume, Superior; sons, Michael, and David (Cheryl), all of Superior; sister, Nancy (Bud) Somerville, Superior; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Ethan) Meehan, Moorhead, MN, James (Haylie) Strum, Superior, Cassandra and Matthew Strum; great-granddaughter, Kynzie Popelka, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 830 Belknap Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Will Mowchan officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
