Beverly A. (Rawn) Pierce, age 93, of Shell Lake, WI, died peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Beverly had been a resident at Glenview Assisted Living since March 2015 where she received loving and compassionate care. Prior, she spent nearly all her life in her birthplace, Superior, WI. Beverly was born on November 13, 1924 to parents Alfred Rawn and Clara (Gisselquist) Rawn.
She graduated from East High School in 1943 and was united in marriage to Maurice Pierce in 1944. She and her beloved husband settled in Superior where they raised their family of six children.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, husband, Maurice, and spouses later in life, Al Engebretson and Stan Rozowski. Beverly is survived by her children and their spouses: Terrance (Mary) Pierce, Thomas (Leslie) Pierce, Maureen (Daniel) Conroy, Mark (Karen) Pierce, Suzanne Pierce, and Todd (Patricia) Pierce; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren (with the 18 th expected around her birthday in November 2018). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, special family members, and friends.
Beverly worked in fashion retail, first at Glass Block in Duluth, MN and later at Prange’s/Younkers in Superior, where she made every customer feel their very best, with her kind demeanor and trademark phrase “let’s get you some beads to go with that outfit.” She was most devoted to being a homemaker and raising her family of six children, and was known as a gifted seamstress, baker, and cook. Later, she would enjoy golfing and playing cards at “Club,” along with spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also channeled her artistic talent through painting, card-making, and other crafting. Bev was a lifelong reader and enjoyed the occasional movie or TV show, but only when assured of a happy ending. Bev was tender-hearted, loving, and caring and a big hugger. She will be missed by us all.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 11:30 AM Memorial Mass with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
