Birgitta Leeper

Birgitta “Gitta” Leeper, 68, Superior resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

She was born on January 1, 1948 in Arvika, Sweden to Bertil and Inger (Peterson) Linder. After arrival in 1950, Birgitta and her parents stayed with maternal grandparents Gust and Hanna Anderson, Port Wing, WI for a short time before moving to Superior where she was raised.

Gitta was a member of the first graduating class of Superior Senior High School in 1966. She also attended UWS and WITC for computers.

She was a proofreader for H.B.J. Publishing Company for many years.

Gitta married Arlyn “Al” Leeper on June 11, 1983 and celebrated thirty-two years of marriage.

She was a longtime member of Central Assembly of God Church and a former member of the First Evangelical Covenant Church where she was confirmed. Her faith was very important to her.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking and music. She loved boating and motorcycling with her husband Al. Gitta was a very loving, compassionate and giving person.

Gitta is survived by her husband, Al; mother, Inger Linder, Superior, WI; one stepdaughter, Jody Belle; three brothers, John (Judy) Linder, Ronald and Kent (Bonnie) Linder, all of Superior, WI and a nephew Christopher Linder and his two children, Emma and Madalyn Linder.

She is preceded in death by her father Bertil and nephew Nicholas Linder.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Central Assembly of God Church and continue until the 2:00 PM memorial service.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
