Bradley A. “Brad” Peterson, 64, longtime Superior resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, August 31, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer, NK T Cell Lymphoma.
He was born in Two Harbors, MN, July 15, 1960, the son of Robert and Florence (Anderson) Peterson.
Brad was a graduate of Silver Bay High School, class of 1979 and after completing a Hospitality Degree, worked at restaurants in Superior including Hardees, Rocky Rococo, and Ponderosa. Brad went on to earn his degree in Dietary Management and worked in his field at a number of Long-Term Care Health facilities, beginning and ending at Bay Shore Health Center. Brad also worked in group homes through HDC and the Challenge Center, Inc in Superior. Through this work, he met his Kelly. Brad was united in marriage to Kelly (Eggers) Johnson at Fairlawn Mansion in Superior, August 8, 2015, recently celebrating 9 years of marriage before Brad’s passing.
Brad was an exemplary employee at every job, working tirelessly for his residents, staff, and co-workers. He also volunteered at different points of his life through different organizations; Courage Center with the adaptive ski program, Douglas County Search and Rescue, Special Olympics, and the Challenge Center, Inc. He maintained certification through CFNP and received many “Employee of the Quarter” awards. He was awarded in 2018 for his 25 years of working with Choice Unlimited in Duluth, providing skill training and jobs for people with disabilities.
Brad was a dedicated father and in his newest role as Grandpa, his light shined brightest. He loved watching his children grown, become adults, and become parents themselves. Brad loved helping them with house projects and spending time with all of them, mostly because loved seeing tasks completed as well as being tidy. He was the family “washer” person.
Brad will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Kelly Peterson, Superior, WI; children Brady Peterson, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Taylor (Megan) Peterson, Superior, WI, Amanda (Andrew) Bronson, Superior, WI, and Jeremiah Johnson, Foxboro, WI; grandchildren, Greta Peterson (5), Rhys Peterson (3), Clara Peterson (1), Nora Bronson (3), and Benjamin Bronson (1); siblings Bryan Peterson (June) Ely, MN, Bob (Crystal) Peterson, Finland, MN, Dode Peterson, Two Harbors, MN, and Ted Peterson, Finland, MN; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved sister-in-law, Heather Peterson; mother-in-law, Sharon “Mamo” Eggers, and his beloved K9 companion, Gucci.
A Celebration of Brad’s Life will begin at 3:30 PM on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior, and will continue until 5:30 PM Time of Remembrance offered by Gary Banker.
