Brian J. Riedasch

January 5, 1951 — December 19, 2020

Brian J. Riedasch, 69, Barnes, WI resident, lost his life battling Covid-19 on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. He was born on January 5, 1951 in Superior, WI to Gene and Alice (Fredrick) Riedasch.

He graduated from Superior Senior High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior and served with the Wisconsin National Guard. Brian was an account executive for CUNA Mutual Insurance Group for over thirty years. He married Linda Jones on September 12, 1970 and they celebrated fifty years of marriage.

Brian was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and loved the game of golf. He loved music and enjoyed singing Beatles songs. He was often mistaken for Jerry Garcia (which he totally went along with). He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and his greatest joy was spending time with family, especially at “the cabin”. Brian was known for love of life and sense of humor and thought of others before himself. He was often referred to as the “Reverend”. Brian was a member of the Hidden Greens Golf Course and Forrest Point Golf Course in Gordon, WI.

Brian is survived by his wife, Linda; three daughters, Tiffany (Erik) Mattson, Amanda Riedasch and Heather (Donny) Ramel; five grandchildren, Payton and Paige Mattson, Tobin and Jet Jenkin and Kaylee Ramel; two brothers, Robert (Lynda) Riedasch and William Riedasch; sister-in-law, Barbara Riedasch and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Paul and older brother Lawrence Riedasch and mother-in-law, Dorothy Jones.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of CICU St. Mary’s Essentia Health for the wonderful care they offered to Brian during his stay.

Because Brian strongly believed in education, memorials may be made in Brian’s name to the Superior Scholarship Fund, 3025 Tower Avenue, Superior, WI  54880 in a scholarship that will be set up.

Due to Covid restrictions of group gatherings, a Celebration of Life with be held at a later date with times and location to be published.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements. To leave an online condolence or to sign the guestbook, please visit www.downs-lesage.com .
