Bruce A. Granlund

Bruce Alan Granlund, 72, lifelong Oulu, WI resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in his home. He was born in Ashland, WI on December 1, 1950, the son of Siinto and Audrey (Armbruster) Granlund.

He graduated from South Shore High School in Port Wing, WI, the class of 1969. After high school, Bruce was drafted into the United States Army and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War and was a proud Vietnam veteran. He went on to become a member of the Local Union Carpenters 0361 and worked at Lakehead Construction for many years.

Bruce married the love of his life Claudia Arola on July 20, 1976 and they shared 24 years together before her passing in 2000.

Bruce was into classic “Rat Rods” and found joy in rebuilding them.  He also enjoyed going to car shows in the area. In his earlier years Bruce spent a lot of time hunting and fishing and loved staying at his “shack” in the woods with Claudia.  He was an animal lover and was so entertained by his dog Puppylo and his cat Gideon the Kitteon.  He also loved watching the deer come feed off the corn and apples he would leave outside of his kitchen window.  But the most important thing to Bruce was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and hearing all about his grandkids' sports.

He is survived by his daughter Kristy (Quincy Smith) Granlund; son Kraig (Amanda) Granlund; grandchildren Nia Smith, Jack Granlund, and Brooks Granlund; and his brother Peter Granlund.

Bruce is preceded in death by his beloved wife Claudia, and his parents.

A Celebration of Bruce's Life will be held from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Oulu Memorial Park, 72180 Airport Rd., Iron River, WI where Military Honors will be accorded.
