Calvin Wayne “Bud” Linden, 84, of Superior and whom previously wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth surrounded by his attentive, loving family.
He was born on March 31, 1926 in Litchfield, Nebraska to Harold and Myrtle May (Will) Linden. He graduated from the former Central High School.
He married his life-long sweetheart, Nona Fae Denotter on June 11, 1947 and celebrated sixty-three years of wonderful marriage. Bud was a member of Whispering Pines E.F.C. Church in Hawthorne, WI and he gently shared his spiritual faith by example with those around him.
He and his loving wife Nona, had previously owned and operated a dairy farm in rural Douglas County and he retired as a truck driver for the Douglas County Highway Department, after many years of dedicated service, in 1988.
He and his wife worked together as caretakers for the Swift Water Farm on the Brule River. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and gardening.
Bud was a very loving and compassionate husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife Nona, Bud is survived by three daughters, Mavis (Virgil) Johnson, Marlyn (Daryl) Johnson, Marlene Zunker; one son, Roger (Cindy) Linden; he is further survived by twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Jean Linden; his parents; his grandson and former police officer, Jason Zunker and a brother, Dwayne Linden.
Bud will be remembered as a kind and compassionate gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Bud’s Life which will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 12 noon in the Whispering Pines E.F.C. Church.
Family and friends are also invited to a visitation that will be held at 11:00 AM. Pastor Thomas Lindberg will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be his son-in-law, Virgil Johnson; grandsons, Dale Johnson, Von Johnson,his great-grandson, Jacob Johnson; his grandsons-in-law, Glen Miller, John Mark Johnson and his nephews Austin Denotter and Shane Denotter.
