Cameron (“String”) Fraley, South Range, Wisconsin, resident, died in an accident on Sunday, August 16, 2015. He was born on March 30, 1956 in West Liberty, Kentucky to Clayton and Wilma (Kelly) Fraley.
He graduated from the Rowan County High School in Morehead, Kentucky.
The majority of Cameron’s career was with Halvor Lines in Superior, Wisconsin. He was hired in 1982 to manage the maintenance and provide all necessary fleet support to Halvor Lines’ Wellston, Ohio trucking terminal. Besides that terminal which continued to grow and prosper, Cameron was very influential in opening a larger trucking facility in Jackson, Ohio. In 1987 the Jackson, Ohio terminal was closed due to economic conditions and Cameron relocated to the corporate offices in Superior, Wisconsin. There he served important roles in all aspects of the trucking business. The most current position he held was Chief Risk and Fleet Officer and was responsible for all the equipment, maintenance, and fleet safety.
He is remembered as a compassionate, dedicated, loyal, and open minded individual who played a critical role in the success of Halvor Lines during his 34 years of service.
Cameron married Sandra Simpson on December 31, 1992 and they celebrated 22 years of marriage.
He was a master tinkerer and enjoyed trap shooting, deer hunting, loved old cars, races, and operating heavy equipment and other machinery. He was a good listener and especially enjoyed helping other people.
Cameron is survived his wife, Sandra Lee; a daughter, Kendra Lee (Anthony) Payette; a son, Ryan (Shelley Balcer) Fraley; a granddaughter, Kenzie Marie Payette; a brother, Mitchel Fraley; a sister, Charlene (John) Spencer; a step-sister, Sheila German; Sue Vinje (mother of Ryan); and many more family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Clayton, mother Wilma and step-father Virgil Stegall.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at First United Methodist Church (The Coppertop Church), 230 E. Skyline Parkway, Duluth, Minnesota and continue until the 11:00 memorial service with Rev. Dr. David Bard, Officiating
