Carl B. Larson

October 28, 1919 — March 9, 2014

Carl B. Larson, 94, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Cedar Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in Superior.

Carl was born on October 28, 1919 in Dairyland, WI to Hjalmar and Esther Larson.

He attended Dairyland Grade School until he was needed to help on the farm.

He went to school to learn welding and worked in Superior Shipyards after trying four times to join the Army to enter World War II.

His injured knee prevented him from Army duty and he stayed home working diligently making the ships that were used in the Allied battle.

Carl worked at various car dealerships and was known as the Twin Ports best “frame straightener” until he retired from Larson Chevrolet when he turned 62.

Many drove from all around the area to have him work on their cars.

Carl married Mildred Betty Jane Becker on August 16, 1941 and was married to her until her death on April 30, 2007.

In their 65 years together, they were hardly ever separated and we are rejoicing that they are reunited once again!

Carl was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Faith Assembly where he played mandolin often and served in various positions through the years.

Carl and Millie were blessed with four children, Ron (Mary), Voyager Village, WI, Gwen (Rod Sandmon), Siren, WI, Arlys (Bryan Kohl) Maplewood, MN and Dan (Julianna), Lake Amnicon, WI.

Carl is also survived by sisters, Florence (Alvin) Hall, Ellen Johnson, Agnes (Bob) Bird, Lilly (Edgar) Farris, Judy (Lloyd) Forry and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Olby and Dorie and Lucille Becker.

His grandchildren are Scott Larson, Brad Larson, Justin Kohl, Travis and Mark Sandmon, Carly Botten, Lindsey Amundson, Ashley Amundson, Karinna Kadrmas and Katy Florin. He also has 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Millie, Carl was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jennifer Larson and Kelli Kohl and a daughter-in-law, Sue Larson.

Many, many lifelong friends and family will miss Carl.

A special thank you to the staff at Cedar Ridge and also the Sunday staff at the Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and concern through the years for Carl.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and will continue until the 12 Noon Funeral Service on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Darrow Road Wesleyan Church with Pastor Lincoln Fry of Apostolic Faith Assembly Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Carl’s grandchildren will be recognized as pallbearers, Scott Larson, Brad Larson, Justin Kohl, Travis Sandmon, Mark Sandmon and Carly Botten.
