Carl Stolpe, 92, of Duluth, Minnesota died Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Golden Living Center, Superior, WI.
He was born in Superior on March 8, 1923, the son of Fred and Emma ( Asplund) Stolpe.
Carl graduated from Central High School in Superior. He went on to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. where he graduated with honors.
Carl then went on to serve in the Merchant Marine in the Pacific area during WW II and was discharged in 1946.
He sailed on the Great Lakes for many years before working for Northern Electric in Duluth before retiring.
Carl was a gifted story teller and practical joker.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alex (Prudie); sisters, Elsie (Sig) Lundberg; Ellen (Ragnar) Larson; Esther (Roland) Ekstrom; Edith (Lloyd) Brown; Lucille (Harvey) Johnson; Doris (Oscar) Wicklund and long time friend, Millie Landstrom.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at The Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Avenue, Superior and continue until the 2:00 PM Memorial service with Major David Clark, officiating.
