Carla J. Hansen

Carla J. Hansen, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN surrounded by her family following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Duluth, MN, on April 11, 1943, the daughter of Glenn and Irene Helen (Carlson) St. Marie. Carla grew up in West Duluth and graduated from Denfeld high school in 1961.

Carla had a beautiful singing voice and performed with the “Sweet Adelines” for many years. She married Garry Hansen on December 29, 1978 in Duluth, MN and they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. At retirement, Carla was employed by Essentia Health as a Phlebotomy Coordinator; a position she held for many years. Garry and Carla built their retirement home on the family farm in Spooner Wisconsin.

Carla was an outstanding cook and enjoyed providing large meals for her family every Sunday. She enjoyed camping with her family. Weekends at the campground were a highlight of many summers. Carla took pride in her flower gardens and landscaping at her numerous homes over the years. She and Garry loved to travel and enjoyed trips to all areas of the US over many years. Carla also loved the Minnesota Vikings.

She is survived by her husband, Garry; one daughter, Carri Prudhomme and her two children, Joshua and Sarah Prudhomme, Duluth, MN; three sons, Bryan (Tracy) Sturm and his two children, Andrew and Skylar Sturm, Superior, WI;  Doug Sturm and his three children, Emily, Jenna and Ryan Sturm, Esko, MN: Jonathan  (Anh) Hansen and his three children Samantha and Megan Hansen,  Superior, WI  and Stephanie Hansen, Hopkins, MN;  and her “Dad”, Jerry Robison. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Glenn St Marie.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday,November 27, 2018 at the Lenroot–Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 ^th Street, Superior and continue until the 12:00 Noon memorial service with Rev. Pastor Eric Bain, officiating.
