Carol Jeanne Kittelson, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Villa Marina Health and Rehab in Superior, WI surrounded by her loving family. She was born the daughter of John and Eileen (McDonald) Drinkwine on December 25, 1935.
Carol graduated from East High School class of 1954 and took some classes at University of Wisconsin-Superior. Carol and Spencer Kittelson were united in marriage in Superior on April 16, 1955. They celebrated 52 years together until his passing in 2007.
She was employed by as an office assistant at Middle River Nursing Home for many years and went on to work for Minnesuing Acres in housekeeping. Carol also volunteered at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital in Superior for many years.
Carol was a longtime active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar and also assisted with the Peace Lutheran Women when needed for gatherings and regularly attended meetings of the Ruth Circle. Many received the results of her efforts with Peace Lutheran Quilters group. She also participated in meetings of the Sons of Norway, Narona #27, Middle River Auxiliary and Homemakers of Wentworth.
Carol was a loving, giving person who loved raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren. She spent many hours baking, sewing, gardening, working on her hobbies, and traveling.
Carol is survived by her sons: Johnie Kittelson, Hayward, WI, Marvin (Jayne Tuura) Kittelson, Oulu, WI, Randy Kittelson, Poplar, WI and Jeffery (Kristin) Kittelson, South Range, WI; daughters: Brenda Kittelson, Stewartville, MN and Shelby (Steve Asher) Kittelson, Superior, WI; sister Evelyn Rieger, Superior, WI and eleven grandchildren plus eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Kittelson, infant son Michael Peter Kittelson and her parents.
The family would like to thank Essentia Hospice, especially Mikayla, the Villa Marina and New Perspective for the loving care of Carol.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church, 9523 US-2 in Poplar, and will continue until the Funeral Service at 12:30 with Pastor Donna Rutten officiating.
The burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior at a later date.
