Carol Wittke

Carol J. Wittke, 77, longtime Superior resident, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in St. Luke's Hospice Unit, Duluth, MN. She was born on May 6, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI to Walter and Irma (Reibe) Ladwig.
She graduated of Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. She married Sherwin Wittke on May 2, 1953 in Milwaukee and recently celebrated fifty-six years of marriage.
Carol was a longtime employee with the Douglas County Clerk of Courts Office retiring after twenty-four years of service.
She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church and a former member of the Superior Elks Lodge #403 and the Superior Moose Lodge #606.
In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by thee sons, Don (Cathy) Wittke, West Chester, PA, Steve (Sandy) Wittke, Superior, David (Tina) Wittke, Duluth; five grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Stacie, Kaleb and Marissa; one brother, Ron Ladwig, Jackson, WI and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Thomas and James and one sister, Ruth.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2009 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.
Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 31, 2009 until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service in Christ Lutheran Church, Superior. Pastor David Schoessow will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Carol's grandchildren will be recognized as pallbearers.
