Caroll K. Taets

Caroll K. Taets, 91 of Duluth, MN formerly of Superior and Prophetstown, IL died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at St. Eligius Health Center in Duluth.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL with Rev. Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church of Rock Falls, IL officiating. There will be no visitation per her request.

Caroll Kathryn Conkling was born on October 20, 1918 in rural Walnut, IL the daughter of Minnie K. (Matson) and Carl S. Conkling. She attended rural grade schools and graduated from Princeton High School in 1936.
She married Eugene A. Bates in 1939 and later married Vernon P. Taets in Morrison, IL on October 1, 1966. She was employed by General Electric Company in Morrison, IL for ten years and Prophetstown Lyndon Unit #3 as bookkeeper for fifteen years retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the 1918 club and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by daughters Deana G. (Peter) Bates-Castricone, Gordon, WI and Carmen Bates, Duluth, MN; son Neil E. Bates, Esko, MN; stepson, Monte L. Taets, Oklahoma City, OK; two step granddaughters and three step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Bates, her second husband, Vernon Taets, her parents and sister, Alice L. Mayne, Princeton, IL.
