Cassie M Colby

Cassie Marie Colby, 78, longtime area resident, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our heavenly Father and Savior, Monday, April 22, 2024, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN, with her loving family by her side.

She was born November 5, 1945, the daughter of Archie and Rita (Stanford) Linton.

Cassie was a childcare professional for the St. Mary’s Childcare Center of St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, working in the daycare they provided for their employees. She loved spending her days caring for those children. She also enjoyed working on her family’s sawmill and lumber/firewood business.

She was very involved in her communities of Superior and South Range, WI.

Cassie’s faith was very important to her and spent time in many different churches with her many faith-hearted family and friends over the years.

She loved living the country life, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and canning the produce. Sauna night was every Wednesday and Saturday like clockwork. She was never without one of her many fur babies, dogs and cats adopted over the years. Above all, Cassie was a strong, independent woman who loved planning and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her fun loving, heart of gold, warm smiles and infectious laughter, singing a variety of songs and never-ending photo taking of her family and friends, and whatever piqued her interest with great joy in her life. She touched the lives of many who knew and loved her. Cassie was always the life at any gathering. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, daughter, sister and sister-in-law, and aunt to her family.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter Rhonda (Steve H.) Dahlen; son, Richard (Tammy) Colby; step-grandson, Kenneth Ostrowski; siblings: Darrell (Yvonne) Hinkkanen, Fl, Patricia (James) Anderson, FL, James (Kathy) Robertson, IA, Ronda (Rick) Hurlbut, WI; special nieces, Chevet Linton and Sandra Elder, and many other nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Colby; sisters, Marjorie Linton, Mary Chaffey, Rita Robertson; brothers, Michael Linton, Samuel, Gerald, Randy, Rick Robertson; and nephew, Robert Linton.

The family is grateful for the skilled and loving staff of Villa Marina of Superior and thankful for the compassionate care given to Cassie as she will be dearly missed by the staff, nurses, and residents.

Per Cassie’s wishes, no public services will be held. A private family burial will be at a later date.
