Catherine “Pat” A. Lindsay, 97, Superior resident, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Center in Duluth.
She was born on October 4, 1914 to James and Mary T. (Vernetti) Giudici in Hurley, WI.
She graduated from the J E Murphy High School in Hurley, WI in 1932 and also graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, formerly known as the State Teachers College of Superior.
She taught grades 3, 4 and 5 at the Mercer Grade School in Mercer, WI and in the Hurley School System at the Gile School in Gile, WI.
Catherine married her college sweetheart, Jean Hugh Lindsay on September 12, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley, WI. They celebrated sixty-nine years of marriage before his passing in November of 2007.
After she was married she was employed by the former Dr. Roger T. Thompson, Ophthalmologist in Superior, and then worked at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the Admissions Office.
Catherine was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior, a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Superior Court #1190, the Catholic Society of Lady Foresters Court #372 and the University of Wisconsin-Superior Classified Organization and the Gamma Phi Epsilon Sorority at UWS.
She is survived by her children, Peter (Susie) Lindsay, Gwyned Valley, PA, Mary Kay (Robert) Winek, Superior, WI, Elizabeth Lindsay, Eau Claire, WI and Thomas (Gloria) Lindsay, Lake Nebagamon, WI; grandchildren, Jill Lindsay, Kristine (Kevin) Snakard, Catherine (Walter) Ratschan, Daniel (Trudy) Winek, Brian (Sandy) Winek, Lindsay Rockwell, Peter Lindsay, Matthew Lindsay and Michael Lindsay and Rachel Miland; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Alexandria Winek, Lauren Griffith, Benjamin Ratschan, Alison and Olivia Snakard and Hadley Rockwell; and several nieces and nephews.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband Jean H. Lindsay, parents, brother Alex Giudici and sister Lucy Adams.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 21, 2012 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church with a CDA rosary to be held at 10:30 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
Pallbearers for the service will be Catherine’s grandchildren.
