On Saturday, November 18, 2023, Charles “Chuck” Steven Androsky traded his parachute for wings and entered into eternal blue skies at the age of 86.
Born June 17, 1937, an aviator, entrepreneur, and trailblazer. Chuck was a pilot with almost 10,000 flying hours and a skydiver with 3,000 plus jumps. He was an integral in the early days of tandem skydiving. He helped with testing and was part of the first group of tandem instructors. His love of skydiving started in 1960, and he shared his passion with the teaching of many 1000’s of first timers to jump from a sometimes perfectly good airplane. He mentored many and changed people’s lives by welcoming them to his sport. His airplane buzz-jobs were iconically down and dirty and on the deck, never legal.
He survived round and square parachute malfunctions, PFL and PLF landing injuries, airplane crashes, bent props, a motorcycle crash, and dealing with the FAA.
He was investigated in 1971 under suspicion of being the famed DB Cooper Skyjacker. These things did not stop him, stomach cancer did.
If you owned a car, he either fixed it or towed it, owning Superior Auto Body & Custom Auto Body working into his 80s. He also owned the Apollo Inn Tavern and Tower Motor Sports Car Sales. He was also a deputized police officer allowing him to transport prisoners in his airplane, and he was also a calculated repo man.
He was a clown for the Superior Shrine Club and elected president in 1973. If you were lucky enough to be treated to his quick wit and sly humor, you knew what a “knock knock” joke was. He was an important member of the Perkins Coffee Liars Club.
Chuck had a love for many pets including small dogs, and even a pet monkey from the Bahamas.
Despite being a man of many incredible things, his favorite role was being a Papa. Nothing meant more to him than his “grandbabies”. If it was your birthday, he made sure to sneak up behind you and get cake frosting on your nose. He always made sure to let them know “I love you more.”
He is survived by his children: Chuckie Androsky, Mark (Jennifer) Androsky, Michael Androsky and Gary (Mia) Androsky; step-children: Brandon (Sara) Johnson, Megan (Vern) Holsclaw, Sean (Ashley) Murphy, and like a daughter, Stacey Frederickson; grandchildren: Cody, Aaron, Michael, Katlyn, Hayden, Ayla, Jack, Claudia, Landon, Peyton, Braydon, Bella, Zoey, Myla, Aurora, Jackson and Keagan; and great-grandchildren Caelyn, Mira, Cal, Myles, Isla and Mavrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Skip and Clara, brothers Ernie and Dennis, and loving wife, Tammy.
