Charles E. Heytens

Charles E. Heytens, 70, lifelong Superior area resident and businessman, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Superior on September 25, 1943 to Wilfred and Edna (Lozon) Heytens.

Charlie graduated from Cathedral High School.

He married Diane Wickstrom on February 20, 1965 and celebrated forty-eight years of marriage.

Charlie was a longtime member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Belgium Club and the Shamrock Social Club. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed hockey.

His life passion was being the owner and operator of the former C’s Lounge for twenty-seven years with his wife Diane. He also enjoyed working with his brother Richard for twelve years at the Hammond Bar.

His greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Lake Nebagamon.

In addition to his wife Diane, Charlie is survived by two daughters, Candace “Candy” Ferfon, Superior, Rachaul “Shelly” (Roberto Rivera) Heytens, Fort Meyers, FL; five grandchildren, Jacob Charles Heytens, Damon Minor, Christina Diane Heytens, Dawn Ferfon, and Kelly Ferfon, all of Superior; three sisters, Eileen Flyen, Superior, Arliss Conner, Janet (Gary) Haack, all of Superior; three brothers, Russell (Dorothy) Heytens, Richard Heytens, Paul (Gloria) Heytens, all of Superior and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Roger Heytens.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 12 Noon Memorial Mass on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci, as celebrant.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Jacob Heytens, Damon Minor, Randy Gordon, Jim “Punchy” Gordon, Gary Haack and Jim Van Overmeiren.
