Charles R. "Sarge" Jarvi

Charles R. “Sarge” Jarvi, 77, longtime resident of Lake Nebagamon died unexpectedly, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Norwood Golf Course in Lake Nebagamon. He was born in Deerborn, MI, December 7, 1943 the son of Charles and Lillian (Anttila) Jarvi.

He graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, WI and went on to enlist in ROTC at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1961. He continued to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force for over twenty years, retiring as Master Sergeant.

Sarge was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed bowling, golf, and basketball, and he loved the Green Bay Packers.

He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 418 where he held many offices.

He is survived by his longtime life companion of twenty-two years, Janet M. Barber, Lake Nebagamon, WI; his daughter, Susan (Greg DeOssie) Jarvi, Boston, MA; and his beloved canine companion, Rusty.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Dickson; sisters, Lila Kamlager, Ellen Paaso and Martha Saari, and his parents.

A Celebration of Sarge’s Life will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Hawthorne Town Hall, 7223S Town Hall Road, Hawthorne, WI with a Time of Remembrance to begin at 5:30 PM.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 Honor Guard.
